A seasoned, versatile educator known for her clarity and enthusiasm, Julie draws on her well of experience and joy of teaching.
MUSIC and ART
Workshops Possibilities include: dance piano (contra, English, or couples dancing), different styles of traditional piano accompaniment, accordion, tune composition, band classes, crankie-making.
Lessons Julie teaches lessons while traveling, via internet, and also from her home studio in Somerville, MA. She works with people of all ages and abilities.
Band coaching / producing Julie helps solo musicians and bands deepen/refine their ideas, work on groove and tightness, learn new ways of being creative, get past musical plateaus, and more.
Sound engineering Through Julie’s “Sound for Performers” and “Hands-On Sound” workshops, she specializes in making audio principles straightforward and accessible, via practical, hands-on experience.

SCIENCE
Julie has more than 15 years’ experience as a natural science educator and environmental educator at wildlife sanctuaries, museums, summer camps, afterschool programs, and schools throughout the Northeast. Her undergraduate degree was in biology from Cornell and her master’s work was in Environmental Management at Harvard.
She is currently developing a series of interdisciplinary nature/art/music programs for informal education settings, combining STEAM principles with an inquiry-based, student-centered, experiential approach.
