Julie hosts two podcasts which can be found on all podcast listening platforms and on their websites. Click the links for more info!

Stars in the Rafters
Stars in the Rafters is a weekly podcast of comfort and community, hosted by Julie and made up of beautiful traditional music and poetry. It has a unique format where people from the community can submit music, poems, and words, which Julie then curates into themed episodes. Each episode is 20 to 30 minutes long, enough to relax and unwind to, or even fall asleep at night. In this time of pandemic, its goal is to help remind us that we’re still connected to each other, and help people feel a little less alone.

Contra Pulse
The Contra Pulse Project is a collaboration between Julie Vallimont and CDSS to document the history and evolution of contra dance music from the boom-chuck piano roots to new modern forms for a variety of instruments. Julie interviews musicians from across the continent with a range of different styles— taking a snapshot of the “state of the artform,” and exploring the evolution across the lifetimes of each artist. These interviews dive into how artists think about their playing, who and where they learned from, how their styles are distinct, and how they may have influenced others. Episodes come out every two weeks.
